Hurricane Model Glossary

Here are some of the most common model codes you’ll see in spaghetti plots:

• OFCL – Official NHC forecast
• TVCN – Consensus of track models
• TVCA – Alternative consensus track
• HWRF – Hurricane Weather Research and Forecast model
• HMON – HMON hurricane model
• ECMI – European Centre model interpolated
• CMC – Canadian global model
• UKXI – United Kingdom global model interpolated
• AVNI/NVGI – GFS-based guidance tracks
• AEMI – ECMWF ensemble mean
• HCCA – Corrected consensus aid

This list is not exhaustive, but it covers most of the lines you’ll see in the map viewer.
